Description

This annual thematic exhibition brings together emerging and established artists and designers from many disciplines to consider the theme of ‘Matter’.

‘Matter’ explores acts of material transformation and change. It considers the possibility of material memory in which use leaves a mark, whether visible or invisible; the history and future of recycling processes from a personal to a global scale; and the mundane and ritualistic aspects of material use and applications. ‘Matter’ asks the question: what happens when we take a long-term view of material life?

The exhibition features the work of Brothers Dressler, Andrey Chernykh, Creators of Objects, Dear Human, Habiba El-Sayed, Nicholas Hamilton Holmes, Simon Johns, JP King, Olga Klosowski, Pamela Nelson, James Michael Shaw, and Studio Swine.

‘Matter’ is an exhibition curated by the Toronto Design Offsite Festival, with jurors Janna Hiemstra and Lukus Toane. Funding is generously provided by the Ontario Arts Council and Craft Ontario.
