Toronto artist Benjamin Wieler continues his interest in paper folding and for the 2016 Toronto Design Offsite Festival, he introduces a new installation at TOWN featuring a collection of decorative art & objects from his paper cog series.
Much of Benjamin’s work consists of repeated minimalist elements that when forged together, generate the larger composition. This new work incorporates multiple images of the same print. With engineered paper cutting, along with simple bindery and folding techniques, he hand makes each kaleidoscopic paper cog. Some are finished with crystal & wood as sculptural decorative objects. Others are combined with additional cog forms from his vocabulary in framed compositions as samplers for embellished wall installations.
Benjamin’s artwork & installations can be found in corporate collections in the USA, as well as private collections globally. His is an art of exacting precision with layers of intricacy.
