Description

‘Project Stool’ features the work of emerging designers from Ryerson’s School of Interior Design. The window display showcases 20 three-legged stools designed and prototyped during a fall 2016 furniture design course led by Professor Jonathon Anderson. This year’s three-legged stool project is prototyped mainly out of white ash as the emerald ash borer is devastating many of Ontario’s ash trees. Students were asked to consider design factors such as sustainability, anthropometrics, ergonomics, proportion, scale, and structure. Additionally, students consider how stools are heavily laden with meaning, and one of the earliest forms of furniture.

Participating Designers: Leah Beadle, Annesia Boodram, Anne Dewar, Laura Faria, Valeria Gulia, Sorrah Han, Rajeshta Julatum, Sonali Kallianpur, Leanne Lof, Adriana Lychacz, Holly Macmillan, Anoma Modi, Sophie Moynan, Emma Perego, Shalagh Quinn, Amanda Ross, Stephanie Rowland, Kimia Sanayeparvar, Danielle Zandueta
Faculty: Jonathon Anderson
Staff: Adrian Kenny + Justine Houseley
