PULP: Paper Art Party 2018 is an evening combining reclaimed materials installation art, live and DJ music, charity, and conversation. Join the conversation with #PULPartparty.
The environment is important, but PULP isn’t about lectures or presentations – we want people dancing, talking, playing, and creating. Inside a unique two-story space, artists will introduce guests to sustainable design through reclaimed material installations in an exciting social setting. PULP is a party that’s about more than just partying.
Artists are welcome to submit designs via our website, we will announce participating artists in early January. PULP hosts 20 art installations made of reclaimed materials by various artists.
PULP is about community and sustainability. That’s why we use the funds we raise and the expertise of our designers to support a charity in Toronto every year. This year we have artist Ksenija Spasic working for the third year with staff and youth at Evergreen Centre at The Yonge Street Mission. She is working with the centre’s art director, Ainsley Boyd, and street involved youth visiting the centre.
In addition, PULP is raising and will donate funds to Evergreen Centre for Street Involved Youth. In 2017 PULP donated over $2000 to the centre. Over the past two years, Art Director Sharon Abel and Supervisor Aleke Dekker were able to launch a pilot project to create a social enterprise out of Evergreen called Jubilee Designs. This is a design and decor business idea that is founded on the creativity and resilience of the centre’s youth. Youth were able to focus on their primary goals such as mental health or housing stability, while working a few hours a week in a supportive and creative environment. They created beautiful decorations and accessories using discarded and re-purposed material, which will be sold in an Etsy Shop. Partying at PULP directly helps this endeavor.
