As its name implies, ‘Surface, Seating, Storage’ is a versatile object. The white oak frame and surface are complemented by woven paracord. It can serve as a coffee table, bench or low sideboard, depending on the user’s needs in a given space or at a particular time. The strengths and limitations of its construction materials are on full display. The interplay between the white oak and charcoal paracord is accentuated by their physical differences, yet each material takes on qualities of the other. The wooden rails have a cord-like quality, while the paracord is woven tightly enough to create a seemingly solid surface below.
‘Surface, Seating, Storage’ is created by Jacob Riches.
