Description

Mjolk will be hosting their third retrospective exhibition of Oji Masanori. This year is particularly special because Mjolk has commissioned a collection of tableware and lighting designed by Oji Masanori to be produced in collaboration with local Canadian artisans and small producers. These objects act as a symbol of cooperation between two cultures, both with strong connections to nature.

“I design a variety of Japanese handicrafts of medium-scale production as demanded in this day and age. I do product design, graphic design, and branding in an integral way. My designs are derived from the history of handicraft, and I do so making sure handicraft continues to prosper in the coming years.” – Oji Masanori

Join Melanie Egan (Head Craft & Design at Harbourfront Centre) and Oji Masanori for an interview about his studio practice, and both Masanori and Mjolk for a lively discussion on their collaboration.
