Is the future hopeless? Is the democratic process in Canada in crisis? How do we understand the city? And, are Canadians committed to creating an equitable society?

At the time of writing,  a variety of tactics (e.g. tired slogans, prorogation, omnibus bills, etc.) are outright blocking the public debate of issues that will define Canada.  New Discourses for a Tired Century seeks to use the format of public debate to allow illuminated young voices, coming from a range of disciplines, to articulate their understanding of Canada’s cultural and political landscape.

For Toronto Design Offsite, the third event in the New Discourses series, four individuals, coming from   architecture, design, and urban planning will confront the statement: “Be it resolved we can no longer conceive of the city as a whole.”  Join Department of Unusual Certainties in  witnessing and reflecting on these perspectives.
