Forgotten people. Forgotten spaces. The urban fabric reveals to us an infinite wealth of places, people and things. But for those who are forgotten, there is little pleasure in this world. The same can be said of spaces that are forgotten. An opportunity to utilize these spaces as safe havens, and access points for those who need help. To place within reach, a small token of assistance without the problems of selection or exclusion; eliminating the inherent hierarchies and allowing those who traverse our cities, unknown to many of us, to learn that there are those who see them and have not forgotten them.
Design and art can influence social and political discourse, and the installation by a group of second year students Interior Design students from Ryerson University establishes them as designers who wish to experience what it means to be transformative in today’s society. Their installation will be simultaneously featured on the Ryerson campus as well as at the Interior Design Show 2012 within the Student Exhibit area.
