The Baitshop hosts Oasis Skateboard Factory’s student exhibition and pop up shop. OSF is the world’s only skateboard and street art design high school where students earn their high school credits by offering design services to the public. Working with community partners and mentors The Baitshop, students have developed products and brands that reflect their personalities and aesthetic sensibilities. In addition to exhibiting the handcrafted, student built and designed skateboards that students produce in the classroom, students will be showing the final product of their upcylcing unit. Working in partnership with local designers Parimal Gosai (formally of PDA) and Robert VanEvery students have repurposed broken skateboards into beautifully designed objects.
Oasis Skateboard Factory helps re-engage students between the ages of 16-19 who struggle in mainstream schools by running a social justice and community focused entrepreneurial business. Students learn hands-on to build skateboards, design original custom graphics, work with local artists and community partners, market and display their work and have the opportunity to receive honorariums. Seeing students find success through designing objects is extremely inspiring for anyone interested in art, design or education.
