PechaKucha Night, a worldwide urban phenomenon, was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an informal and fun gathering where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps – just about anything really, in the fast paced PechaKucha presentation format. www.pecha-kucha.org
Drawing from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit-chat”), it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. Presenters have a brief 6 minutes and 40 seconds to talk along 20 images that forward automatically.
Good PechaKucha presentations are the ones that uncover the unexpected, unexpected talent, unexpected ideas. Some PechaKuchas tell great stories about a project or a trip. Some are incredibly personal, some are incredibly funny, but all are very different making each PechaKucha Night like ‘a box of chocolates’.
A pre-party for the Toronto design week, PechaKucha Night Toronto is teaming up with Toronto Design Offsite to present you this special TO DO PechaKucha Night Toronto on January 17, 2012 at The Garrison. Tickets are $5 and will only be available at the door. Doors open at 7:30 PM, and presentations start at 8:20 PM. First come first seated!
