What TO DO This Week: October 9-15

Looking for something fun to do this week? There are always cool events and exhibitions going on in Toronto, but sometimes all that choice can be a little overwhelming. That’s why we put together a weekly list of the most interesting art and design events going on in the city. Here’s what we’re checking out this week.

 

Reelworld Film Festival

The Reelworld Film Festival is in its 17th year of promoting social awareness, understanding and diversity through films, virtual reality experiences, conversation and video games. The festival seeks to use storytelling as a tool for change.

Toronto Art Crawl Night Market and Live Auction

Showcasing the work of more than 60 artists and designers the Toronto Art Crawl Night Market and Live Auction is a one night only event which will also have a selection of food vendors and live music on hand to keep the party going.

National Mural Symposium

The biennial National Mural Symposium is taking place in Toronto this year. The event is an ideal networking event for mural artists as well as a forum to discuss mural trends and challenges. This year’s keynote speaker is celebrated muralist John Pugh.

Cape Dorset Print Collection at Craft Ontario

Craft Ontario is unveiling two complete sets from the Cape Dorset Collection, from Kinngait Studios. The collection includes work from 15 artists including Tim Pitsiulak, Ningiukulu (Ningeokuluk) Teevee and Nuna Parr.

Share Her Journey Short Film Program

This collection of short films all made by female filmmakers is part of TIFF’s Share Her Journey campaign to champion female storytelling. The program includes 7 short films by women from around the world, from Canada to Nigeria and beyond.
